'One Nation, One Ration card' scheme being implemented in Mumbai, Thane

The ration cardholders and eligible beneficiaries will get food grains from their official ration shops as there is the abundant availability of food grains.

The central government’s ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ scheme is being effectively implemented in Mumbai and Thane areas, Kailash Pagare, Director of Ration Control and Civil Supplies for Mumbai informed. 

Speaking more about the implementation, Pagare informed that the ‘National Food Security Day’ was celebrated on September 12 with a view to effectively implement the ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ scheme in Mumbai and Thane areas. 

In order to create awareness among people about the benefit of the scheme, posters are being printed by all the ration officers. Pagare said that the ration shops are being used to explain the purpose of the scheme to the citizens and take benefit of it through e-pass.

The ration cardholders and eligible beneficiaries will get food grains from their official ration shops as there is the abundant availability of food grains, Pagare said while informing that it will be mandatory for the customer to use masks and practice social distancing. 

The ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ scheme covers Maharashtra, Gujarat, Haryana, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh In Bihar, Leh, Ladakh, Lakshadweep and Diu Daman, Jammu and Kashmir, Manipur, Nagaland, Uttarakhand and other union territories. 

Eligible ration cardholders can use the facility to obtain food grains through portability. Under this scheme, a citizen of India can take food grains from any state of the country with a ration card.
