In light of the vaccine shortage in the city, the majority of the vaccination centres will be non-operational on Wednesday. According to reports, of the 314 state body and civic-run centres, only 24 will ply on Wednesday. These will be functional from 9 to 5 pm with each being allocated 100 doses.
The BMC, based on accounts has stated that citizens above the age of 18 who need to get their first or second jab can visit the said centres. Out of the 24 operational centres, 13 will give Covaxin, whilst 11 will give Covishield. Covaxin’s total stock has been divided into two, with 50% for the first dose and the other 50% for the second dose. Covishield’s 30% has been set aside for the first dose.

At the listed centres, healthcare and frontline workers can get their second jab. Alongside, special drives are being held for not just international travellers, pregnant women and those above the age of 45.

Drive-in vaccination for those above 45 on Wednesday is accessible at Cooperage garden. With seven centres for students travelling abroad for higher education and professionals travelling for work commitments. Those under the special category will only receive vaccines at the Kasturba Hospital, with drives for pregnant women at MW Desai hospital, cite reports.
