On Sunday, August 8, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray stated that citizens who have taken both the doses of coronavirus vaccine are allowed to travel on the Mumbai locals from August 15.

However, experts have opined the demand for Covaxin and Sputnik V may increase in Mumbai after citizens who have been vaccinated are permitted to commute on the Mumbai suburban system. As the gap between the two doses of Covaxin and Sputnik V is much less than the interval between the Covishield vaccine, speculations are being made that the demand is likely to witness an increase.

Meanwhile, the production of Russia's coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V in India is expected to come fully on stream in September, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) had earlier informed on Saturday.

On the other hand, according to the latest study in the UK, the citizens who have received both the jabs of their coronavirus vaccine are three times less likely to contract COVID-19 again. Earlier on Wednesday, August 4, the Real-time Assessment of Community Transmission (REACT-1) study, one of Britain's largest studies into coronavirus infections in the country, said that infections in England have increased four-fold from 0.15 per cent to 0.63 per cent since the last REACT-1 report, which covered the period from May 20 to June 7.
