In the wake of rising COVID-19 in the state, the Maharashtra government on Friday, March 19, has issued fresh guidelines for theatres, auditoriums, offices and have also extended the curbs imposed in containment zones till March 31.

Issuing the guidelines, the Thackeray-led government in its new notification asked all offices in the state (private and government) to function at 50 per cent capacity. Moreover, the government has asked offices to allow their employees to work from home as long as possible.

However, health and other essential services have been exempted to ensure that the citizens get essential supplies to stay at their homes.

At the same time, the state government has asked the drama theatres and auditoriums to operate only at 50 per cent of their capacity till March 31. The order also states that it cannot be used for other purposes such as religious, social, political, cultural gatherings and meetings.

Here are the new guidelines to be followed:

1) According to the new guidelines, employees are once again being urged to work from home. Companies in other sectors, except for health care and other essential services, are required to call only 50 per cent of employees at a time, according to the new corona rules in Maharashtra.

If possible, employees should be allowed to work from home. If these rules are not complied with, the concerned establishment can be closed or sealed. At least till March 31, all state government offices will be open in the presence of 50 per cent employees.

2) The state government has said that it should be decided how many people should be allowed to enter temples, religious places and other places of worship at a time depending on the place. Online darshan, pre-registration should be facilitated. The trustees are urged to ensure that there is no overcrowding and social distancing is maintained under any circumstances.

3) If a person fails to wear face masks and maintain social distancing a punitive action will be taken against them, the order said.

4) A maximum of 50 persons will be allowed for marriage and only 20 persons for funeral. Failure to comply with these restrictions will result in case action against those involved, the new order said.

5) No one will be allowed to enter these places without proper wearing of masks. Moreover, temperature measuring devices to be used to ensure no one with fever gets an entry, it said.

6) Mandatory rapid antigen testing before entering shopping malls across Mumbai. Mall Management has been asked to ensure that theatres and restaurants or any other establishments on the premises adhere to the new guidelines.

7) Hand sanitisers are also to be made available at entry points.
