On the occasion of Anant Chaturdashi, Ganpati Visarjan (immersion) was carried out with a lot of enthusiasm across Mumbai while the city’s beaches witnessed mass gatherings. 

More than 38,000 Ganesh idols were immersed at 129 locations in Mumbai. While keeping in mind the safety of the devotees, the police had made strong security arrangements. 

The Lalbaugcha Raja immersion was done at 9:00 in the morning on Friday at Girgaum Chowpatty. The immersion of other idols across Mumbai happened at various beaches including Dadar Chowpatty, Juhu, Aksa, Versova and Marve jetty. 

In a statement, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) informed that nearly 7,627 Ganesh idols were immersed while the figure for domestic idol immersion stood at 30,403. In total, around 38,000 idols were immersed in the last 24 hours.

An official said that civic body's disaster management team, fire brigade, police and other agencies were part of the safety and security mechanism for immersion.
