Coronavirus cases in Mumbai has seen a rise since the last few weeks, and the local administration has expressed concerns about the spread, thereby asking the citizens to be careful. The government has asked the people to follow the COVID-19 rules by wearing mask and maintaining distance at all times. 

Observing the increase, the state government announced a second wave of coronavirus and along with the municipal administration, officials has tightened the security to curb further spread.

At present, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sealed more than 600 buildings in Mumbai and this has been done only if there are five and more patients found in the same.

As per the data shared by the BMC, Wards L, K-East (Andheri East), S (Bhandup) and A (Marine Lines) have the highest number of containment zones in Mumbai, with 18,12,and 7 areas sealed respectively. A total of 70 areas in Mumbai have been sealed by the authorities due to the spread of coronavirus. On the other hand, wards K-West (Andheri West), F-South and D have the most number of buildings sealed with 167, 83 and 79 locations marked as containment zones. As of April 3, 2021, a total of 681 buildings have been marked as hotspots.

Besides this, the authorities have also sealed 8790 floors across different buildings in Mumbai, whereby wards T (Mulund), K-West (Andheri West) and H-West marked by the BMC.
