The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) continued its crackdown against those violating the ban and collected fine of worth ₹3 lakh in a single day. The fine was collected after carrying out an inspection of 5,739 shops and seizing 253 kg of plastic.

On Wednesday, the BMC’s Establishment Department team inspected 950 shops and collected a fine of ₹1.5 lakh. The civic body prepared an inspection report of the nine shop owners who refused to pay the fine. In total, 241 kg plastic bags were seized.

Along with this, the Licence Department inspected 382 shops which included street side vendors, hawkers, and malls and collected a fine of ₹75,000. This department seized 7 kg of plastic bags.

Likewise, the Market Department inspected 4,407 shops and collected ₹55,000 fine by seizing 5 kg of plastic bags, informed Nidhi Chaudhari, Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Special).
