A power loom factory was gutted in a devastating fire in the wee hours of Friday, March 5, in Bhiwandi town in Thane district of Maharashtra, an official said.

An official said that no casualty was reported in the incident, however, the factory was totally destroyed.

Santosh Kadam, chief of the Thane Municipal Corporation's Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC), said the fire broke out at the factory situated near Galaxy Talkies on Naigaon Road, Gulzar Nagar, Bhiwandi at around 2.20 am.

According to reports, the firefighters from the Bhiwandi Nizampur City Municipal Corporation reached the spot as soon as they were alerted. One fire vehicle and one water tanker of the force were present at the spot. It took more than two hours to douse the flames. The fire was completely extinguished at around 4:15 am.

Though the cause of the fire was not yet known, said the official.
