Free Medical treatment will be provided to senior citizens at BMC hospitals and health centres in Mumbai. As of now, senior citizens, aged above 60 years, are granted 50 per cent discount for medical care in BMC hospitals. However, now this will be free of cost.
Earlier in 2017, the proposal to provide free medical treatment for senior citizens was presented before the Public Health Committee. The proposal was kept by Health Educator Dr. Avinash Supe and with the agreement of committee members, it was proposed that seniors citizens shall not pay for their treatment.

Public Health Committee President, Dr. Archana Sanjay Bhalerao welcomed the proposal and it will be sent to standing committee for the approval. Bhalerao said that the same will be implemented in hospitals.
