A 28-year-old man died after experiencing a medical emergency during a techno music event at the NSCI Dome in Mumbai's Worli area, prompting an extensive police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The deceased, identified as Vrushabh Mahendra Gangurde, was reportedly attending the techno concert Outworld Mumbai when he suddenly fell ill. He was transported by ambulance to Breach Candy Hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. Authorities initially registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR No. 17/2026) at Tardeo Police Station.

While early speculation suggested a possible heart attack, police have stated that the exact cause of death remains unknown. Officials are awaiting detailed post-mortem and forensic reports before drawing any conclusions. Investigators are also reviewing CCTV footage and other electronic evidence from the venue to reconstruct the events leading up to the tragedy.

During the investigation, police learned that Gangurde had allegedly consumed a significant amount of alcohol before the incident. Authorities also explored the possibility of drug involvement, but preliminary findings have not uncovered evidence of narcotics use.

Reports indicate that a 25-year-old woman accompanying Gangurde also became unwell during the event and was hospitalised. Preliminary information suggests that overcrowding and possible suffocation amid the large crowd may have contributed to the medical emergencies.

The incident occurred during Outworld Mumbai, a techno music event headlined by internationally renowned German DJ and producer Klangkuenstler (Michael Korb). The event is known for its immersive audiovisual production, industrial techno music, and underground rave-inspired atmosphere, attracting large numbers of electronic music enthusiasts.

Following the incident, Mumbai Police increased security measures at the NSCI Dome, deploying additional personnel and strengthening surveillance around the venue.

The case has also led to legal action against the event organisers. Police registered a case against Karan Singh, CEO of event management company Space Bound, and Parag Narendra Uke, the firm's senior manager. They have been charged under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections related to causing death by negligence.

Investigators have recorded statements from approximately 15 individuals, including company executives and officials associated with the NSCI Dome. According to police, the woman who was hospitalised acknowledged consuming alcohol at the event. However, officers noted that the preliminary post-mortem findings in Gangurde's case have not indicated the presence of any intoxicating substances.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek to determine the exact cause of death and assess whether any negligence or other factors contributed to the incident.
