Addressing the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar announced that Raigad district will soon be equipped with a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) base camp. The announcement came during a discussion on the serious situation arising out of heavy rains in the state in the Assembly on Monday.Ajit Pawar assured that the government is closely monitoring the overall scenario and is immediately sending relief material to the affected areas, while the state grapples with the emergency situation arising out of the incessant rains.

Ajit Pawar tweeted, "The state is flooded with heavy rains in many places, the government is keeping a close watch on every aspect, the administration has been instructed to be vigilant, relief work is going on fast where it is needed, disaster victims are being taken to safe places, arrangements are being made for their stay and food, free food grains are being distributed immediately with INR 5000 to disaster victims, no discrimination is being done in this relief work."


He further added, "The government will stand firmly with each and every citizen in the calamity, keeping in mind that Ratnagiri, Raigad district as well as Sahyadri hill region are facing frequent natural calamities, the state government will ensure that the proposed NDRF base camp in Raigad district will be located in Raigad district, necessary follow up action will be taken."
