Awaaz foundation has led the anti-pollution campaign all over India for a decade. Awaaz foundation was founded on 21 February 2006 by Sumaira Abdulali. The foundation has advocated against noise pollution from various sources and has conducted campaigns to create awareness of adverse health effects from noise pollution.

Abdulali measured noise from old rake train between Bandra and CST station and a new rake train between CST and Thane station. The announcements in the new rake trains, public interest messages and station announcements at very high decibel levels bother the commuters.

Sumaira Abdulali has written the letter to Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu. Abdulali has asked railway minister to take strict action and reduce the unnecessary burden on the citizens of Mumbai.

People can bear sound up to 55db. Commuters singing Bhajans in the train add woes to the problem of noise pollution.
