Back in 2017, a major fire broke out in Lower Parel's Kamala Mills compound and claimed 14 lives. Initial reports suggested the fire broke out in a rooftop resto-bar but an investigation later revealed that the cause of the fire was the ‘flying embers’ from a hookah. This alarmed the police and since then, officials have been taking necessary measures to ensure safety at all the venues, especially during the festive season celebrations.
