Every year, a lot of people rush to tourist places around Mumbai to spend a nice weekend getaway. However, because of the COVID-19 outbreak, all such plans will have to be put on a hold. Travel to any tourist places is a strict no-no. 

Palghar is also one of the places that are flocked by tourist during the monsoon months. However, much like other places people will not be able to visit this place this time around. There are strict restrictions to remain away from tourist places such as forts, beaches, lakes, waterfalls etc in Palghar. Apart from the COVID-19 outbreak, another reason to impose this restriction is Palghar is a recent incident in which five men had drowned in this area. These five men had gone for a picnic and drowned while trying to click a selfie at Kalmandvi waterfall near Jawhar, Palghar district on July 2.

These resections will remain in effect till 9th August 2020. The restrictions are also for the monsoon trek’s which are organised every year during the monsoon season.

Currently, there are 1577 cases of coronavirus in Palghar district, there has been a constant increase in the number of coronavirus cases in Palghar. For some of the positive patients plasma therapy is also being tried to treat the patients. Plasma therapy has been effective in treating several coronavirus patients in the country and Palghar too is trying all possible means to treat the patients in this area. The collector of the area has also requested all the patients who have been cured of coronavirus to come forward and donate plasma in order to help others who are affected by the virus.

Monsoon is usually a boom time for a lot of tourist destinations in Maharashtra. A lot of tourists flock these places in large numbers during the monsoon season for treks, campings and to be near nature and enjoy the weather. A lot of people in Mumbai also plan weekend getaways to some of these places. But this year due to the coronavirus pandemic these plans have to be put on hold or postponed.
