In order to handle the heavy rush of tourists who throng Bhushi Dam during monsoons on weekends, the police of Lonavala division has banned the entry of heavy vehicles after 5:00 pm.

DD Shivthare, Deputy SP, Lonavala division, said that there will be a ban on entry of heavy vehicles to Lonavala on Saturdays and Sundays. Vehicles will not be allowed to enter the town from Valvan and Khandala exits. Also, heavy vehicles are expected to be parked at parking spaces provided near Valvan bridge and tourists must proceed to their destinations on foot.

He also added that tourists will not be allowed to go towards Bhushi Dam and Lions Point after 5:00 pm and people who are already there on the spot should leave by 6:00 pm.

During the monsoons, many tourists from Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad and Mumbai visit Lonavala and nearby areas in Maval taluka leading to long traffic snarls on various roads. Along with this, a large number of tourists also travel on foot to popular tourist spots that make it difficult to walk on roads.
