In a recently taken decision, officials at the Mumbai's popular Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SNGP) stated that the park located in Borivali will now be opened for the general public.

The information was shared to the TOI by Park Director, G Mallikarjuna, who mentioned that the permission has been given for the same, and will be applied strictly with coronavirus restrictions. People will have to follow the guidelines at all times when they are on the park premises.

As per the update, the park will be open from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm, but attractions will not be operational for the public. Visitors will only be able to park their vehicles outside the premises, and no private vehicles will be allowed inside. One can make the use of BEST buses to commute inside the park. Further, visitors will have to wear masks and following the rules at all times.

Besides this, the pending project of the battery-operated buses to Kanheri caves has been postponed and the Archaeological Survey of India has not given permission for the caves to be reopened for the visitors.

A large number of people have been visiting the park for a few months now since the park officials allowed the visitors to use the park for their morning recreational activities. People were allowed to walk only on the marked lanes and had to follow the route strictly.

The decision was taken for the benefit of the citizens and activists from the city have also been working towards the same for a few months.
