On Thursday, June 16, union transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari stated that he is considering a law wherein people sending pictures of wrongly parked vehicles could receive a monetary reward, reports stated. He made these statements at an event while adding that such a law would assist in reducing the parking menace.

Gadkari has been quoted in narratives elaborating on how he will bring into force a law wherein a person sending pictures of a wrongly parked vehicle will be given INR 500 if the violator is fined INR 1,000. He added that this will help in solving the problem of parking. However, it has not been confirmed if his statement has the support of any legislative scheme.

Based on accounts, Gadkari then went on to regret the nuance that people do not make parking spaces for their motors and instead use roads to park them. He further uttered that days it seems like it is a requirement for everyone to have their own cars.

He reportedly cited the example of his cook at his residence in Nagpur who allegedly owns two-second hand cars. The union minister voiced that whilst previously people would get shocked on finding out that maids and cooks in the USA came to work by car, he claims that the situation is similar in India.
