Parel - The issue of redevelopment of BMC’s Dr. Ramchandra Kashinath Shirodkar Market is not being solved from last 20 months. The shop owners are now facing the problem of their existence and that is why 143 shop owners staged thiyya agitation here on Monday. They have warned of launching a fast unto death agitation from March 1 to press their demands. The shop owners are being asked by the BMC administration and the corporators to vacate their shops in the said market for redevelopment. This market was demolished 20 months ago but no work has been started even after passing of such a long period of time. Shop owners have expressed their displeasure on this. Meanwhile, Sena MLA Ajay Chaudhari has assured them his political support to start their shops illegally. “The redevelopment work of this market is pending due to technical problems of the BMC. This market would be redeveloped till April or May 2017,” said Chaudhari.
