Shiv Sena’s Praveen Shinde on Tuesday was elected as chairperson of Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) committee in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.

This happened after Congress withdrew its candidate and remained neutral in the elections. Shiv Sena’s way to victory became easier and Shinde was elected as the chairperson of BEST committee.

Shiv Sena’s Shinde got eight votes while Prakash Gangadhare of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) got five votes. Congress leader and BMC opposition leader, Ravi Raja withdrew his nomination paving way for the Shiv Sena’s victory.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena also won the election for the chairperson post of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) standing committee and BMC education committee. This happened on Monday after Congress withdrew its candidates which contributed to the defeat of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The BJP had to face defeat and strongly criticised Congress for withdrawing candidates.

Shiv Sena’s Yashwant Jadhav was re-elected as the standing committee chairperson. He managed to defeat Markrand Narvekar from the BJP easily after Congress withdrew its candidate.

Moreover, Sandhya Doshi of Shiv Sena was elected as the chairperson of the BMC education committee. She was contesting against BJP’s Surekha Patil.
