Kalyan Dombivli: KDMC to spray disinfectant, mosquito repellents as cases rise

The municipal body has decided to spray the disinfectant in phase 2B and 3A of Kalyan West and F, G, I, E wards of Dombivli East.

Apart from Mumbai, the number of coronavirus cases in Thane district has also been increasing at alarming rates. The twin cities of Kalyan and Dombivli have emerged as one of the major hotspots in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). 

The administration has decided to spray special disinfectant and mosquito-repellents in the areas under Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC). This activity will be carried out by the local body on July 26. 

The municipal body has decided to spray the disinfectant in phase 2B and 3A of Kalyan West and F, G, I, E wards of Dombivli East. The areas will be disinfected from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM in areas of Kalyan West while the same will be carried out in the areas of Dombivli from 3:00 PM onwards. 

The administration has appealed people to stay at home during these timings. Maharashtra has been one of the worst-hit states in India due to the coronavirus outbreak. 

As of July 25, the number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra has touched 3,66,368 and the death toll has reached 13,389. In Mumbai alone, the number has gone up to 1,08,060 and has reported 6,036 till now. 

Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus cases in Kalyan-Dombivli has touched 20,700 while the death toll remains 368. On Saturday, nearly 451 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in the KDMC areas along with 12 fatalities.
