The number of coronavirus cases in Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) under the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) is now witnessing a spike in the number of coronavirus cases.

The number of coronavirus cases in Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) is now witnessing a spike. This area has slowly started emerging as a new hotspot in terms of the number of cases.

The current scenario is that from the past few days approximately 450 to 550 people from this area are being diagnosed with coronavirus daily. As the total number of patients in Kalyan Dombivali has crossed the 17,000-mark and keeping this in mind the authorities may consider the decision to extend the lockdown in this area. 

There are a total of nine municipal corporations in the metropolitan area, such as Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan Dombivali, Bhiwandi, Ulhasnagar, Mira Bhayandar, Vasai Virar and Panvel municipal corporation. In the Mumbai Municipal corporation area, everyday around eleven to twelve hundred cases of coronavirus are recorded. Around three to four hundred cases are now being recorded in Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), the Kalyan Dombivali has a higher growth rate of coronavirus patients.

So far there are 17,650 cases of coronavirus in KDMC out of which 9,307 cases were found between July 2 to July 9. Due to the constant increase in the number of coronavirus cases the local citizens are demanding an extension of the lockdown. The local administration has also decided to conduct tests in the city and quarantine people who must have come in contact with a person who has been tested positive for coronavirus.
