After a rise in the human-animal conflict incidents in Maharashtra, the state government has decided to set up a Special Committee to enact a law to provide proper compensation to the victims. Alongside, the panel will ensure the conservation and safety of animals in the wild.

The panel will study the impact on the farmers and farm workers due to the terror of wild animals in civilian areas near forests. After which, the Special Committee will submit the study report to the state government who will frame a regulatory mechanism and suitable law for compensating the victims.

The proposal to form a regulatory mechanism and bringing a law for the compensation for farmers and labourers comes after the tigress Avni was shot in Yavatmal on November 2, 2018.

Accordingly, the committee will study the laws worldwide to understand the mechanism in a better manner. However, the trouble is that the compensation regulations in other countries involves a lot of factors which are different in India.
