The state government and US-based Ford Motor Company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in June during Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis’ visit to the United States. The Ford Motor Company aims to set up a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for integrated mobility in Maharashtra by exploring smart urban mobility modes of transport. The objective is to have a single mobile app with common mobility solutions for commuters across multiple modes of transport such as buses, trains, taxis, autos and the metro. The government also plans to facilitate buying tickets for different modes from the same application, which will be taken up in a phase-wise manner.

According to officials, the app would come in handy for both Indian and foreign tourists, as there will be no need of agents for planning a trip.
