Over the last few months, Mumbai Police have taken a stance to fine the drivers of two and four wheeler vehicles if they do not follow traffic rules. Officials are penalizing the drivers to ensure road safety as per protocols, and keeping the same in mind, the Mumbai Traffic Police has launched a campaign to recover overdue e-challans from online delivery firms. 

Basis this, a letter has been sent by the Mumbai Police to the companies regarding the exhausted e-challan, and data suggests that these companies have lost a total of INR 36 crore in e-challans for violating traffic rules. 

These challans were raised for breaking the signal, parking in a no-parking zone, talking on the phone while driving, and more.

Report reveals that Uber has been fined INR 1.21 crore, while Ola drivers have been fined INR 60 lakh. According to the traffic police, e-challans of INR 1.48 lakh has been raised for Swiggy drivers and INR 31 lakh for Zomato drivers .

Besides this, e-challans worth INR 319 crore have been raised and have been pending for a while. Keeping this mind, the firms have been asked to fill up the same through traffic police call centres. To address these concerns, representatives from Swiggy, Zomato, Ola, Uber were called for the meeting.
