On October 24, 2023, around 595 idols of the Goddess will be immersed from Thane to Badlapur. Around 4000 police personnel will be deployed during this procession to prevent any untoward incident and traffic jam. Moreover, changes have been implemented in the traffic in the city where heavy vehicles will be banned on the Ghodbunder road after 2:00 pm. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is likely to be present during the immersion of the goddess at Tembhi Naka late at night. Therefore, a special team of police has been deployed here as well.
The cities of Thane, Bhiwandi, Kalyan-Dombivali, Ulhasnagar, Ambernath and Badlapur fall under the Thane Commissionerate area. As many as 255 public goddess idols have been placed in Thane city, 87 in Bhiwandi, 133 in Kalyan-Dombivli and 120 in urban areas from Ulhasnagar to Badlapur. These idols will be immersed on Tuesday, on the day of Dussehra. Around 4000 police personnel will be deployed during the immersion processions to prevent any untoward incident and traffic jam. This will include 3,000 police personnel including 449 senior officers, 700 Home Guards, three units of State Reserve Forces, riot control teams.
In Ghodbunder’s Gaimukh Visarjan Ghat area, a large number of idols are immersed. This year too, keeping in mind the possibility of crowds coming up for immersion, the Thane traffic police has imposed an entry ban for heavy vehicles on this route after 2:00 pm. This ban is going to be till the completion of immersion. The vehicles here will be diverted via Chinchoti, Kaman, Anjurphata, Mankoli, Bhiwandi. Therefore, the load of heavy vehicles on this route is likely to increase.
Some plainclothes police personnel will also be present. Also, the police have installed CCTV cameras at important intersections here. There will be a police presence at every junction to control the crowd. There is a possibility of congestion in the Talawapali, Gokhale Road, Ram Maruti Road, Courtnaka, Jamblinaka areas during Devi Visarjana.
