Registration for Biometric Attendance of officers and employees of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital Kalwa and Rajiv Gandhi Medical College of Thane Municipal Corporation is underway. Biometric attendance will be mandatory from August 1. This is one of the many measures taken to make patient care more efficient.

The Thane Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar has started various activities. As a part of these initiatives, a biometric attendance system is being introduced at both the locations. Attendance of doctors and medical staff in hospitals is directly related to patient care. A full-time presence of doctors and medical staff would go a long way in enabling patient care. There were frequent complaints about the absence of hospital medical officers and staff, especially senior officers. In this background, the municipal corporation has decided to introduce a biometric attendance system.

As a part of this process, the recruitment process has been started to raise more manpower for the treatment of patients. Accordingly, the registration of around 800 officers and employees of both Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital and Rajiv Gandhi Medical College for biometric system has started from Tuesday. The registration process will be completed in the next seven days. The trial of this system will start from July 18. So, from August 1, the process of attendance books will be stopped and complete attendance will be done through a biometric method. For this, equipment is being installed in the façade.

A similar experiment was started at the municipal headquarters. Since then there has been a marked improvement in the punctuality of officers and staff at headquarters. Similarly now, administrative reforms are being made to ensure that medical officers and staff are available full time for patients, with staff present at their premises during working hours. Hence, medical officers and staff will be motivated to attend on time. Patients do not have to stay anywhere. Also, the quality of patient care will also be improved, explained Commissioner Bangar.
