The potholes on the Mumbai-Nashik highway from Kharegaon toll road to Padgha are causing traffic jams, and heavy vehicles are adding more to it. Thane Police has taken a big decision after citizens started getting angry about this situation. According to this, heavy vehicles have been banned in Thane during the day i.e. from 5:00 am to 11:00 pm. However, heavy vehicles have been allowed between 11:00 pm to 5:00 am. These changes will be in effect till August 30. This decision will reduce the congestion in Thane, Bhiwandi and Kalyan cities along the Mumbai-Nashik highway.

Heavy vehicle traffic continues from Gujarat, Nashik and JNPT ports towards Thane and Bhiwandi. Mumbra Bypass, Mumbai-Nashik Highway and Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway are open to traffic. This traffic runs between 10:00 pm to 5:00 am and 12 noon to 4:00 pm. Due to the rains for the past few days, potholes have formed on the highways. This is causing the problem of congestion by slowing down the speed of vehicles.
