In case of a fire in Thane City, it will be extinguished up to 45 floors since two state-of-the-art high rise fire fighting vehicles (HRFFVs) have joined the fire brigade of the Thane Municipal Corporation.

The two vehicles will be used to extinguish a fire in a tall building. The special fire engine in the vehicle can extinguish the fire up to 45 floors with the help of a high-pressure pump and the other vehicle will have a capacity of 10,000 litres of the water tank. Both the vehicles were handed over by Madhusudan Narayan, Vice President, Rustomjee Urbania Project and Suvek Salankar, Fire and Security Chief, Rustomjee Urbania.

Public Works Minister and Thane Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde, Collector Rajesh Narvekar, Thane Municipal Commissioner Dr Vipin Sharma, Mayor Naresh Mhaske, Sanjay Bhoir, Ashok Vaiti, Shanu Pathan, Additional Commissioner of Thane Municipal Corporation Sanjay Herwade, Chief of Thane Fire Brigade Girish Jhalke were present on the occasion.

In other developments, Thane's Global COVID Hospital staff staged a protest. On Tuesday, August 17, the agency sent notices to the majority of employees informing them about the termination of their services following a drop in the number of patients at the facility due to declining cases of coronavirus.
