Thane Municipal Corporation data elucidated that the number of vaccine beneficiaries going for the second jab in hospitals, as well as, private facilities is bigger than that of corporation centres, reported the Times of India.

On viewing the October 22 data, it is highlighted that a mere 49 per cent of the 7.6 lakh beneficiaries had taken the first jab from January 16 and October 22 at civic-run vaccination centres. Contrasting this to private-run facilities, that commenced operations post-June, logged almost 64% of the 2.6 lakh beneficiaries attaining the second dose, highlighted the account.

Additionally, the number of those opting for government facilities is larger with 11.47 lakh beneficiaries for both jabs, as opposed to 4.27 lakhs in private facilities in the city of Thane. Thane has logged an aggregate of 15.7 lakh doses until October 22.

The report stated that experts have claimed that the consistent flow of vaccines, as well as, atmosphere offered at private facilities combined with the usual follow up may be why the numbers were good. Contrasting this, considerable municipal centres saw a dearth of vaccine supply recently. This came along with a dearth of staff that could have left a lot of the follow-up chain for the second dose.
