The Thane Traffic Police have implemented new traffic regulations beneath the SATIS bridge on the western side of Thane railway station on a 30-day trial basis to ease congestion and ensure the smooth movement of emergency vehicles.
Under the revised traffic plan, all vehicles approaching the railway station from Moos Chowk, Ashok Cinema, CIDCO and the station approach road will not be allowed to enter near the Railway Protection Force (RPF) office. Instead, motorists will be diverted via the road behind the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial towards Platform No. 2.
The traffic police have also imposed a complete no-parking zone on both sides of the road between the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial and the stretch beneath the SATIS bridge to improve traffic flow and prevent bottlenecks.
The revised traffic arrangement came into effect on June 25 and will remain in force for 30 days on an experimental basis. Citizens have been invited to submit objections or suggestions in writing at the Thane Traffic Branch office at Teen Hath Naka during the trial period. If no major objections are received, the traffic changes may be implemented permanently, police said.
