Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday, October 26, directed the officials to expedite all the housing projects in the state for police personnel, which have been undertaken by the Maharashtra State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation Ltd.

He also reviewed the progress on the redevelopment of the BDD chawls in Mumbai and asked officials to complete it in a time-bound manner.

In the meeting, which took place at Sahyadri Guest House, Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil, Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad, Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray, Minister of State for Home Satej Patil, Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Ashish Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department Manukumar Srivastava Additional Chief of Public Works Department Secretary Manoj Sonik, Additional Chief Secretary Revenue Nitin Karir, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Vikas Kharge, Principal Secretary Housing Milind Mhaiskar, MMRDA Commissioner SVR Srinivas, MHADA Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Anil Diggikar, Mumbai Board Chief Officer Yogesh Mhase, Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale and other senior officers were present.

Moreover, releasing an official statement, the CM in the meeting of Maharashtra Police Housing Corporation also asked officials to complete all the ongoing projects in various districts of the state through Maharashtra State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation with priority.

A statement from the chief minister’s office (CMO) said that the government is taking efforts to provide a well-equipped police station, accommodation with all facilities and up-to-date administrative buildings for the police force.

 “The housing projects that are completed by the corporation must be immediately transferred to the home department. The state would also provide adequate funds for the 49 projects that are underway,” said an official statement quoting the CM.

Along with filling up the vacant posts of staff officers for BDD Chawl project, issues related to housing for personnel, including providing concession in residential areas, utilising plots of the home department for police housing, construction of residential buildings on Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) plots, better infrastructure and e-registration facilities to the beneficiaries of the redevelopment were also discussed.
