TMC to hold special vaccination drive for 18+ specially-abled once in a week

A special vaccination drive is being carried out to ensure that differently-abled persons are not deprived of vaccination and they are vaccinated at the nearest health center. The walk-in facility will have 100 doses at each center, said a TMC official.

The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has decided to conduct a special COVID-19 vaccination drive for divyangs (differently-abled) who are above the age of 18.

The sessions will take place at ward-wise selected health centres in the city every Friday, from 11 am to 2 pm, and the beneficiaries can take the jab by showing their identity card.

Medical Psychologist Special Teacher Aadhar Kulkarni has been appointed as the Coordinating Officer for the special drive.

The centres where the vaccines will be administered include - Sheel Health Center, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital, Kausa Stadium, Chorus Health Center, Rosa Gardenia, Apla Davakhana Anandnagar, CR Wadia, Srinagar Maternity, and Parking Plaza. 

Moreover, the TMC from June 7 started the Mobile Vaccination centre in a refurbished bus for senior citizens and specially-abled citizens.

Earlier, NMMC had organised a one-day special vaccination program on Thursday, June 10, 2021, for disabled citizens between the age of 18-44.
