To park or not to park?

Nariman Point - Free parking zones or pay and park facilities are not really helping.
Vehicle owners in tony south Mumbai say they are facing a tough time due to mafia that charge for parking vehicles in the area which is declared a free parking zone by the municipal corporation. They charge Rs 30/hour and Rs 90 for a full week on V V Rao Road, Nariman Point.
In South Mumbai, 39 zones were designated for free parking, but the boards were taken out from the zone and hooligans have started charging money from the vehicle owners.
A tender was proposed for the parking of vehicles but it didn't get a good response from the public, owing it which it was retracted.
Zones which are declared free parking areas are - P.J. Ramchandani marg opposite Gateway of India, Vidhan Bhavan Marg, Jamshedji Tata Marg, University Marg, Horniman Circle, Jehangir Art Gallery, NCPA, Marine Drive and other locations.
