The number of coronavirus cases in Mumbai has been increasing exponentially, and the data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation reveals that Ward P-North (Malad, Manori, Marve, Aksa, And Madh) and has been one of the most affected wards in the city.
Keeping this update in mind, the Assistant Commissioner of the ward has issued orders to strictly close the Madh area from midnight of June 11, 2020, to midnight of June 15, 2020. The area has been marked as a containment zone and only medical shops will be allowed to operate.
The data shows that as of June 9, 2020, the ward showed a growth rate of 5.9 per cent in coronavirus cases, with a total of 2,353 cases, out of which 1,637 were active and 690 were discharged. With this figure, this locality in Mumbai has the highest growth rate.
While the state government officials along with the BMC are trying to contain the virus across the city, it is important for people to observe social distancing and follow the norms issued by the government. Though the city is under lockdown until June 30, CM Uddhav Thackeray permitted certain activities to resume, in a phase-wise manner, as a part of 'Mission Begin Again' initiative.
However, on June 10, 2020, he stated that if the public does not follow the rules and guidelines, the state government will impose a lockdown again, further extending it beyond June 30.
As of June 10, 2020, this ward had a total of 32 containment zones with 248 sealed buildings. Here are the areas were sealed as red zones in Mumbai's Ward P-North
