In a recently reported incident, a nitrogen cylinder exploded at a company located at Bhiwandi's Dapoda area. Reports state that the incident has claimed two lives and four workers were seriously injured.
The nitrogen cylinder was being used for cutting iron at the JE Mechanical Company situated at Parasnath Compound in the Narpoli Police Thane area. Workers at the company use this technique regularly to cut and weld steel. However, the blast occurred at around 1.40 pm on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, due to some technical mishap and whereby a big explosion was heard in the nearby areas too.
It is said that the blast was loud enough to have damaged the two-wheeler parked outside the company premises. The sound had caused a stir in the area.
Reports reveal that more than 300 men work in the company, however, the exact count of the workers present during the blast has not been revealed. The injured workers were rushed to a hospital in Thane, however, two succumbed during the treatment. The deceased have been identified as Prem Ananta Bhoir and Akshay Ashok Gautam.
Besides this, the list of the injured includes Munir Mohammad, Hussain Momin and Bajrang Shukla. They are currently undergoing treatment at Lotus Hospital Mankoli, while Alpesh Bhoir has been admitted to Jupiter Hospital.
Police officials rushed to the spot and registered the accident.
Earlier during the day, a fire broke out at the iconic Kitab Khana in Fort. Rescue teams were sent to the location to extinguish the fire, and the bookstore officials took to Twitter on Wednesday night, to inform that the situation was under control.
