Two shocking incidents of stone-pelting on moving local trains have recently come to light in Mumbai, leaving two women injured. Both incidents occurred near Sewri and Wadala railway stations. The Wadala Government Railway Police (GRP) has registered cases and launched an investigation.

The first incident occurred on Thursday, September 18, near Sewri station. Anuradha Sav (39), a resident of Wadala East, was traveling in the last women’s compartment of the 7:07 pm CSMT–Goregaon slow local. As the train crossed Sewri and approached Wadala, she went near the door to get down. Around 7:30 pm, an unknown person standing near the tracks threw a stone that first struck her phone and then hit her left eye, causing minor injuries. She was treated at Lokmanya Tilak Hospital and later filed a complaint with the Wadala Railway Police.

The second incident took place on Monday evening, between Cotton Green and Ray Road stations. Harshada Pawar (21) was returning from work and standing on the footboard due to crowding. An unknown person hurled a stone in the dark, hitting her directly on the face. She was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment.

In both cases, the Wadala Railway Police have registered FIRs. Senior Police Inspector Arshuddin Sheikh stated that efforts are underway to identify the culprits using CCTV footage from the surrounding areas.

Authorities have urged commuters to be cautious and report any suspicious activity near railway tracks.
