With the increase in the number of cases of coronavirus in the western suburbs, the BMC and the police administration has been strictly enforcing lockdown rules in the areas in a bid to contain the spread of the disease.

In the western suburbs of Mumbai, Borivali has the highest number of patients suffering from the coronavirus after Malad. According to data released by the BMC, till August 11, 7,454 people have tested positive to the coronavirus in Malad. In Borivali, 6,303 people tested positive. Dahisar witnessed 3,133 cases whereas Kandivali clocked 5,728 cases.

As of August 10, In Malad, the number of coronavirus cases is doubling in 106 days which means that the doubling rate of the area has increased to 106 days. The doubling rate for the coronavirus is 72 days in Kandivali followed by 73 days in Dahisar and 51 days in Borivali.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, August 12, Maharashtra clocked 12,712 fresh cases of the coronavirus, propelling the state's COVID-19 tally to 5,48,313. Currently, there are 1,47,513 active cases in the state. With 13,408 COVID-19 patients getting discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 3,81,843.

On the other hand, the recovery rate and fatality rate for the coronavirus in Maharashtra stand at 69.64 per cent, and 3.4 per cent respectively.
