Prices of some vegetables being sold in Mumbai have been on the rise for the last several days. However, as per reports, the price will soon reduce with an increasing number of vehicles transporting the same to the vegetable market. It is said that a total of 650 vehicles arrived at the vegetable market on Thursday, November 5, 2020.

Monsoon played a significant role in this matter and the rains across the state caused severe damage to crops. Over the last few days, the prices of vegetables have been fluctuating at the APMC market in Navi Mumbai, and this has impacted the sale at markets across the city. At present, okra (Bhindi or Ladies Finger) is being sold at INR 20-30 per kg, cabbage at INR 30-40, chilli at INR 30-40, tomatoes at INR 25-35, brinjal at INR 30-40 and cilantro at INR 10-20.

But officials state that the prices will now begin to fall and will soon get back to normal, as the number of vehicles arriving at the market will also increase eventually. Customers will see the difference in the coming days.

Moreover, the market activities were also affected due to the and its impact on the functioning of the APMC vegetable market, whereby only 300 to 400 vehicles were arriving on a regular basis. However, about 8 months later, with the activities resuming slowly, a total of 627 vehicles arrived at the market. This has brought a sigh of relief among the vendors, and will soon reflect on the customers too.
