For the last four years, a new veterinary clinic has been built in Vasai to treat injured and sick animals. But there is a delay in the completion of other works including electrical and furniture. Because of this, animal lovers have expressed their displeasure. As there is no government animal medical hospital in Vasai Virar, the injured animals have to be taken to other places for treatment. The city has a large variety of animal species. Sometimes animals get sick. Sometimes they get injured due to road collisions and other reasons. As there is no hospital at such time, citizens have to take the animals to other places including Navi Mumbai for treatment. Then they are very angry.

Animal lovers have consistently demanded that a government veterinary hospital be established in Vasai. Accordingly, it was decided to set up a veterinary hospital at Sandor in Vasai West. The construction work of this hospital has been started from October 2021 by the Public Works Department. The hospital being constructed is 6 thousand 800 square feet and about INR 3.50 crore has been spent for this purpose. But even after four years, the picture shows that the work has not been completed and the hospital has not started.

At present, the building of the veterinary hospital has been erected. However, since the electricity, furniture and other works inside the building are going on at a very slow pace, animal lovers have raised the question of when the hospital will start. If the completed building is not used, there is a possibility that it will fall into disrepair. The work is said to have been completed by the Public Works Department. But citizens have said that they have spent a year in minor work as well.

Lack of planning

The construction department had said that 90 percent of the hospital would be completed by June 2023. But since then the work is progressing at a snail's pace due to various reasons. Citizens have alleged that the work is not being completed due to lack of planning in this work.

Such treatment will be available in the hospital

The Veterinary Hospital to be set up in Vasai is a fully equipped hospital. X-ray, sonography, surgery, treatment of injured, lab facilities and modern systems etc. will be installed here to treat the animals. Apart from this, all the necessary facilities for the treatment of animals will also be available here so that there is no need to take the animals away for treatment.
