Mumbai water shortage crisis: Only 26 percent water left in dams
SHARES

Only 26 percent of the water is left in all the dams that supply water to the whole of Mumbai. So Mumbaikars may face water shortage.

Mumbai is supplied with water from seven reservoirs. These dams include Vihar, Tulsi, Tansa, Bhatsa, Modak, Upper Vaitrana and Middle Vaitrana. But in all these seven dams, only 26 percent of the water storage is left for Mumbaikars. Therefore, it is predicted that Mumbaikars will face water shortage in the future.

In the same period last year, this water storage was 30 percent, but now it can be seen that this water storage has decreased. Also, the possibility of less rain this year has also been predicted. For this, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has requested the state government to get additional reserves for Mumbai. The civic body has also written a letter to the state government demanding to provide additional water storage. It is said that this letter is now in the ministry and the state government will take a proper decision on it soon.

As only 26 percent of the water reserves are left, it is predicted that the water problem will become serious for Mumbaikars. During the same period last year, this stock was 30 percent, so there was not much fear of water shortage. But it is predicted that the amount of rain will also decrease this year. Therefore, this situation is likely to become more serious.
