Thane Municipal Corporation officials said on Monday that water supply will be affected in some parts of Thane district in Maharashtra on Wednesday, June 4, till 9 pm.

The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) said that scheduled water supply will be suspended in some parts of the city on June 4 till 9 pm due to necessary maintenance work at the Temghar Water Treatment Plant.

For a period of 12 hours, water supply will not be available in the following areas:

Ghodbunder Road, Vartak Nagar, Ritu Park, Jail, Gandhi Nagar, Rustomji, Siddhanchal, Samata Nagar, Siddheshwar, Eternity, Johnson and parts of Kalwa, the municipal corporation said.

It further said that the maintenance includes pre-monsoon servicing of high-pressure substations, control panel repairs and transformer oil filtration. These works are important to ensure smooth functioning of the water supply system during the upcoming monsoon.

Water supply from other sources like Shahad Temghar Water Supply Authority (STEM) will continue in unaffected areas with adjusted distribution (zoning).

TMC has informed residents that water pressure may remain low for 1-2 days after water supply is restored.

"Citizens are advised to conserve water and avoid wastage," Thane Municipal Corporation officials said.

While the monsoon has arrived in Mumbai, it has not yet delivered significant rainfall to the catchment areas that feed the city’s main lakes. Currently, the combined water levels across the seven lakes are at 15 per cent of their total storage capacity, slightly above what was recorded at this time in the past two years.

Despite the slow start, civic authorities remain hopeful that rainfall will soon pick up in the lake regions, helping to secure the city’s water supply and avoid the need for any water cuts this year.

Meanwhile, water supply was also affected in some areas of Kandivali East on June 2 and 3 due to planned pipeline repair work.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in an official statement that water supply has been temporarily suspended in some areas of Kandivali (East) under R-South ward due to necessary pipeline connection and valve installation work.

The work will continue from 1:30 pm on Monday, June 2, 2025 to 7:30 am on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, it said.

The BMC said the work involves connecting a new 900 mm diameter water pipeline at the entrance of Thakur Complex near the Western Express Highway and installing a valve of the same size.
