On Tuesday, July 6, water supply in some areas across Thane city is likely to remain closed as Thane’s civic body, Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has undertaken the repair work of the Satis bridge along with the repair work of the waterway at Thanekarwadi.

Accordingly, water supply in Ramnagar, Chandani Koliwada, Natu Paranjape Colony, Subhash Nagar, Anand Bharti Marg, Kumbharwada, Savarkarnagar, Swami Samarth Math premises, Valmiki Society, Shramdan Society, Patrakar Society coming under Naupada-Kopari Ward Committee will be closed for 24 hours.

Moreover, the water supply will be halted from 9 am on Tuesday to 9 am on Wednesday. Even after that, there is a possibility of a low-pressure water supply for the next one to two days, the water supply department of TMC has clarified.

Furthermore, in an important update, citizens of Mumbai have been asked to use water sparingly as the lakes that supply water across the city only has 15.54 per cent of water left.

According to sources, the water in the lakes is enough to last for another month and a half. However, if rainfall continues to be intermittent like this, scarcity is likely to occur.

Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) supplies 3,800 million litres of water every day. In order to maintain an adequate supply of water throughout the year, it is important for the lakes to have 14,47,000 million litres of water by October 1.
