In an initiative taken by corporator Tejashwi Ghoshalkar, water is said to now be available through a stand post in Ganpat Patil Nagar.

With the outbreak of the coronavirus crisis in Dahisar, a stand post has been erected in order to supply abundant water in the slums. The experiment was started in Ganpat Patil Nagar slum after relentless efforts of Shiv Sena corporator Tejashwi Ghoshalkar of Ward 1. A stand post has been set up on street number 12 and will soon be installed in street numbers 5 to 14.

In the past, water was supplied through tankers in these places. However, while filling water by tankers, the citizens had to work hard. In addition, large amounts of water were being wasted. Shiv Sena Deputy Leader, MHADA Chairman Vinod Ghosalkar repeatedly corresponded in the government department to supply water to the people living here. On the other hand, corporator Tejashwi Ghosalkar also insisted the BMC on sourcing water to the people. Ultimately, his efforts have been successful. Therefore, following the rules of social distancing, water will now be available to the people. The citizens have said to happily welcome this initiative.

It has been opined for long that water crisis is a serious issue in Mumbai. Time and again, the BMC has urged the people to use water safely to ensure there is no wastage. The benefits of rainwater harvesting have also been highlighted in many cases, especially since Mumbai receives an enormous amount of rainfall every year. In the past, there have been videos circulating on social media urging restaurants and hotels to adopt the principle of 'cutting pani', a take-off on Mumbai's famed 'cutting chai' (half cup of tea), to further save water. Using aerators on domestic taps for optimum use of water and recycling water as much as possible are among the other ways propagated by the civic body to save water.
