Recently, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) made it mandatory for its employees to link their Aadhaar card to register their attendance. But this is not the same for corporators who till this period, sign in a muster. BMC group leaders are of the view that there are many corporators who sign their muster and do not enter the BMC hall.

Group leaders demanded to install CCTV

Considering these issues, last year, BJP group leader Manoj Kotak had demanded to install CCTV cameras and biometric machines to keep a tab on corporator’s attendance. On this, the Human Resource Department has decided to take a decision and will implement it at the group leaders' meeting.

While bringing in the biometric attendance method which will be linked to Aadhaar card, the entire process will be implemented in a decentralised manner. Therefore, each account and department head has been permitted to buy biometric equipment at their level as per the requirement.

Accordingly, the administration has clarified that the decision to set up CCTV with biometric machines in the meeting of the group leaders. However, the proposal for this is not yet submitted by the department to group leaders.
