An unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday evening in Vile Parle, where two women and a child died while celebrating the Teejiya festival in the city. As per reports, the police and fire brigade arrived at the spot, as soon as the incident was reported, and the rescue operation began.
Teejiya a festival celebrated by the north Indians, where women fast and worship for a long life of their children. The incident occurred In front of the Satellite Hotel in Vile Parle East, where some women were performing the rituals near their children with a well, and unfortunately fell inside. This happened at around 6:00 PM. It is reported that 4 to 5 women and children fell as the wall of the water well collapsed.
A child and two women were reported dead. Fire brigade and police have been conducting the rescue operation as there are still some more people trapped inside. The water is being removed from the well. The number of people deceased may increase later.
Politician and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party Parag Alavani and Revenue Minister Chandrakant Patil also reached the spot.
