Arun Jaitley, Union Finance Minister discussed issues related to GST and other economic matters with Maharashtra finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar.
In the meeting in Mumbai, representatives of sectors such as shipping and ports, petroleum, agriculture and fertilisers and entertainment gave their representations on GST to Jaitley.
Sudhir Mungantiwar enumerated the financial growth in the meeting. Maharashtra contributes 19.8 % in the service sector. Current growth rate of the state is 9.4% which is way high in comparison to 5.4% in the year 2014.
Last week, Jaitley had said he was hopeful of the GST rollout from July 1. He had said the new regime will create one of the world’s biggest single markets, make commodities cheaper and tax evasion difficult in the country.
Present at the meeting were Deepak Kesarkar, State’s minister of finance and rural development, MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha along with Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Maharashtra Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar.
