Having won the white ball series against England, the Indian team has set its sights on the West Indies and Zimbabwe tour, as well as the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. The recent cricket news pertaining to the same had been trending across the cricketing world.

The Men in Blue won the three-match ODI and T20I series with a margin of 2-1 in both formats against the English side. A great bowling and exciting batting from the middle-order gave India a much-deserved win in both formats. Thus, they are seemingly on the right path in terms of their preparations for the T20 World Cup.

The next two tours will be a Test of the team’s depth and also a breather for senior players before the Asia Cup in UAE. The squad for the West Indies tour has already been announced but the one for Zimbabwe still remains under wraps.

This is why we’re looking at the three players who deserve to be in the squad for the Zimbabwe tour.

  • Rahul Tripathi:

The Ranchi-born batter has found opportunities really hard to come by but has performed well whenever he’s got the chance. Playing for the Hyderabad team in the Indian T20 League, the 31-year-old scored 413 runs in 14 matches with a striker rate of 158.24. He also scored three half-centuries in this year’s edition.

His average of 37.55 points to a calm and composed head on the shoulders, is perfect for an ODI match. The right-hand batter’s average has jumped from the mid-20s to 37 and his striker rate has shot up from 125s to 158 in the Indian T20 League. If there was a point for his inclusion in the national team, then this is it.

  • Mohsin Khan

It is a well-known fact that players who do well in the Indian T20 League are picked up into the national side. That would be a positive sign for the inclusion of Uttar Pradesh bowler Mohsin Khan.

The left-arm pacer played nine matches for the Lucknow team in this year’s Indian T20 League and took 14 wickets. With a bowling average of just 14.07, the 24-year-old would do wonders in ODIs and deserves a place in the Indian squad for the Zimbabwe tour.

  • Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav has had a difficult time with injuries. The unlucky chinaman, often gets injured when playing well and has to sit out of the team. After making a great comeback to the Indian T20 League, the left-handed spinner has been injured again.

His Indian T20 League stat of 21 wickets in just 14 matches, makes a great case for his inclusion in the team. The 27-year-old is known to break partnerships in the middle by bowling flighted deliveries, a tool which would be very helpful in the ODIs.

Kuldeep Yadav has been included in the T20I squad for the West Indies tour but has been left out of the ODI squad.
