Mumbai is buzzing with anticipation as India prepares to face New Zealand in the ICC World Cup 2023's first semi-final on November 15. The excitement is everywhere, and the city's financial hub is going through preparations for the big game.

The World Cup has also proven to be an aid to businesses across the country. The event is now expected to give a significant boost to sales.

In Mumbai, hotel rates have seen a sharp increase of about 80 per cent. Premium hotels such as The Oberoi at Nariman Point are charging up to INR 90,000 for a suite on November 14. The starting rate at the Trident Hotel is INR 32,000.

The Oberoi and Trident, the closest five-star hotels to the semi-final venue Wankhede Stadium, are also seeing a surge in bookings. Other famous hotels like the Taj Mahal Palace, Colaba, and the nearby Taj Mahal Tower are charging INR 56,000 and INR 41,300, respectively, for a base-category room on November 14.

The Taj Santacruz, located near Mumbai's domestic airport, is charging between INR 19,000 and INR 20,000 per night for rooms between November 14 and 15. On average, five-star hotels in Mumbai are charging around INR 15,000–16,000 per night for rooms.

Even two and three-star hotels have hiked their rates from INR 3,000–10,000 to approximately INR 5,000–18,000 per night during the semi-finals.
