As the 11th edition draws closer towards its conclusion, Star Sports is trying to raise the bar and engage a larger audience this year. Along with the English and Hindi commentary, Star Sports will introduce Marathi commentary in the finals of the league.
Bollywood actress, Madhuri Dixit and Marathi filmstar, Swapnil Joshi will be giving their voices to the Marathi edition of IPL commentary on the Star Pravah channel. Commentary in Marathi will be the first time in the history of the league.
In addition to this, Ranbir Kapoor will be hosting a two-hour long show, “Party Toh Banti Hai!” which will consist of other stars – Salman Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez – for the closing ceremony of the tournament. Though Star Sports has put more emphasis on commentators in regional languages, only two Indians have been given a place on the English commentary panel for the final encounter of the league.
Former Indian opener, Sunil Gavaskar and Sanjay Manjrekar will be on the panel with Simon Doull, Graeme Smith, Michael Slater, Matthew Hayden and Michael Clarke.
