Former India fast bowler David Johnson has passed away at the age of 52. On the basis of fine performances for Karnataka in the domestic circuit, Johnson, known for his pace, came into the Indian side. In the 1995-96 Ranji Trophy season, he recorded figures of 10 for 152 against Kerala.
In 1996, he made his Test debut in the Delhi Test against Australia. With Javagal Srinath injured, Johnson bowled alongside his Karnataka teammate Venkatesh Prasad. He then did a South Africa tour and played in the first Test, however, the lack of control meant his Test career lasted just two games where he picked up three wickets.
He had 41 wickets, in 33 List A games. In 2015, his last game of competitive cricket was in the Karnataka Premier League.
